Computers
may usually come in English, they are nevertheless able to display and
print many different languages. Human ingenuity is such that beyond our
amazing Roman alphabet, with which only 26 characters can express all
concepts, hundreds of different writing systems have existed since the
very first time a human being printed his hand covered in dirt on the
wall of a cave, or started scratching petroglyphs on a canyon stone.
And if it is widely recognized that hieroglyph where the first modern
writing system able to record human words, the richness of our planet
written languages is a constant source of wonderous amazement.
Modern
systems and
older computers
We had to
give up trying to follow recent changes in systems and lack of
enthusiasm for support for Foreign languages, on the part of system
designers, as well as applications (for instance one of the most
reputable Desktop Publishing program on Mac is still unable to use
anything but basic English fonts) In reality, our job is to design
fonts, not keyboard handlers that the geniuses who created OSX should
have put in the system in the first place just as in OS9. For older
versions of Windows, same thing. We cannot take the place of the system
designer for language support. Sorry for owners of other systems. If
ever system support became somewhat better, we will be glad to resume
providing fonts for seldom-used languages.
So for
the moment, we support only the WGL4 font family below and plan on
releasing even more based on our current designs in due time. All other
older, non standard foreign fonts have been discontinued.
The WGL4
Unicode format supports most European languages (Western, Baltic,
Central), Russian, and semi-graphics.
